York ASD Partnership Commitment
As a parent rep of the York Community Autism Partnership, co-chair of the Steering Committee and a member of various working groups over the years, I am extremely proud to be part of this formal collaboration. I would like to thank all Partners for acknowledging the gaps experienced by families and for coming together to provide meaningful solutions.
Although the original Strategic Plan was finalized in April 2010, our work really began back in January 2008 when we hosted “Dream Days” to seek stakeholder input for intentional system transformation.
Here we are in 2024 – although many of the faces have changed, the commitment to Partnership work remains! You care … and it matters.
The central focus of Partnership work was to make things easier for families – but the relationships and tools we have developed together have made each of the Partners stronger because our collective work has made your work a little bit easier.
The York Community Autism Partnership has built a solid reputation in Ontario and beyond and we are the gold standard of how to support families living with ASD. I can tell you there is a recurring theme in parent forums that “families seeking services should move to York Region”. Our good news has travelled far and wide.
With the changes to the Ontario Autism Program, our work is more important than ever. We are in a unique position to help the York Region service navigators to support families in a way no other region can. Imagine families trying to navigate disjointed services in areas of the province that don’t have an established network like ours?
Thank you again for your ongoing commitment to fulsome services that will enhance the lives of families affected by Autism in York Region.
